Blackberry
This little puppy is pretty nice to use. right now I am just getting started with the "WAP" browser stuff. I have installed a nice port onto my garage computer that get me my internet. what it does is control WinAmp with WAP. now I can listen to internet radio stations in my garage and access which station with the blackberry. The screen is simple, but effective.
The blackberry screen show more functions at once and they are easy to access for the basic commands, play, stop, pause, next, prev, volume up, volume down.
I will add some screen shots of the blackberry screen when I get them.
The plug-in for WinAmp is located here
Its an easy install. Get WinAmp running, then just run the plug-in install after you download it. it wants port 888 by default but if you wish to change this, go into WinAmp, then options, and look for the plug-in and edit the port access.
Right now I just have some really crappy speakers in the garage, but it works. I am going to mount some better ones, and possibly a sub-woofer. I was thinking of mounting speakers in each corner, this might sound really good. I like this system because it even has an equalizer on this and you can change the sound a bit.
Now that I know how to get "WAP" working, with NAT, I was going to set up each multimedia computer in my house with the same control, but I can separate them each with a different port access, routed to each device.
This is great, now I have an unlimited range remote control.
The other nice thing, I can set-up multiple computers with WinAmp, all set to a different port, and then route all of them trough my fire-wall. This way the Blackberry can control several computers with just a bookmark for each system. This works great and seems to have pretty quick response.
